Skylighter's TL5005 ball mill will make ounces of BP/binder at a time, and Skylighter's TL5010, one gallon ball mill will handle a 21ounce batch.

I have never had a, " little mill" but once you get a mill dialed in with the correct media and charge with (dry) chems it doesn't take long to mill powder to it's peak power. some have tested powder every 1/2 hour and found that a correct mill will get it done in 2 hours. That's about what I let mine go. give or take a few.
Having done black powder in a homemade cylindrical ball mill made of pvc pipe, and milling for hours at a time. I've had no issues using ceramic media. If you have it running the right speed, it will grind. It shouldn't be running so fast as to run up the side of the wall and drop from a height. Fluidized bed effect is what you're shooting for.

To grind a single chemical (vs. a mix like black powder) using a ball mill, fill your mill jar half full of hardened lead or brass grinding media, and 25% full of potassium nitrate.
