'Dore' is Arnold Throp and he was/is a part of Model Engineer Services of Sheffield. Ivan Law and the Quorn/ Dore Westbury/Kennet et al. The next clue is that Throp is/was a member of the SMEE. I nattered with him on the stand at Harrogate a couple of years ago. Hope this helps( and unless someone can do better they can belt up)

Dore Westbury "ramhead" Vertical Miller. A most versatile machine with a head that can be elevated, swung, tilted and moved in and out. Fitted with a Morse taper socket and a standard Myford thread nose (allowing chucks, etc., to be fitted), the spindle has both wormandwheel gearing for fine feeds and a rapidaction drilling quill.

142 photos. The standard internal spindle taper for Dore Westbury is 2 Morse Taper, so any tooling for that will do, plus a drawbar of course to match the tooling. If the machine has been built to design spec. there will be a Myford size threaded nose on the spindle end which can be used to hold a collet chuck.

The dore westbury mill is a nice machine, however I think £1000 is a bit strong. Unless it has lots of extras of course. Yeh, the Dore Westbury is indeed a unique mill, not least as it was originally sold in kit form, which comprised a set of plans, a book containing all the machining procedures and notes, a set of partly machined castings and all the materials to make the various levers and such.
